Trump loves to talk about his concealed carry permit. His main campaign site trumpets that “We should protect our Second Amendment right, and we will make America great again.” He fully opposes any type of gun control and any expansions of the current national background checking system.
“The Second Amendment of our Constitution is very clear,” says Trump on his website. “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed upon. Period.”
Rather than imposing gun control on laws on law-abiding citizens, he would rather imprison gun violent criminals to much longer periods of time in prison. Instead of expanding background checks, he wants to fix current systems that are in place, which he states are broken.
He dismisses phrases like “assault weapons” or “high capacity magazines guns,” which are only meant to confuse people, he instead, calls them “popular semi-automatic rifles” and “standard magazines.”
Trump was presented with one of these semi automatic weapons in January of this year, when Mark Limogenes, who owns Black Ops Arms in New Hampshire, handed him an AR-15.
“The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions,” Trump has said
